Enneagram-led voice coaching

Be yourself out loud (without blowing up your life)

Presentations. Negotiations. The interview. The conversation with your boss you still dread. The one with your parents about the care home. You could be better in those rooms and you know it.

Confidence: I know you want it. The same as everyone I’ve ever asked. But you can’t learn confidence — any more than I can teach it. It’s not a skill, it’s an outcome. The kind that allows you to say what needs to be said, when it matters, as yourself.

There’s a Conversation You’re Not Having

You already know which one.

Notice what just happened. Chest, stomach, somewhere in the throat – and it arrived before a single thought did. Or you didn’t let yourself go there at all, which is the same system working faster.

Nobody was in the room. Nothing was at stake. You read a sentence.

That is your nervous system responding to an idea – and it is the same mechanism that fires when you stand up to present, walk into the negotiation, or finally open the conversation you have been deferring since March. The conversation was only a way of showing it to you somewhere safe.

That Wasn’t Nerves

That was your pattern, getting there first. It is trying to stop you.

It makes you feel sick about the presentation so that you won’t present. And when you ask it why, it supplies reasons: you’re not good enough, you’ll be found out, they don’t rate you anyway. Those aren’t findings. They’re the cover story.

What you’re braced for depends on the pattern. If conflict is the thing you can’t have, you anticipate the row. If you’re the person everyone comes to, you anticipate having to ask for something yourself, which is worse. If you’re never caught out, you anticipate looking unprepared – so you armour up in advance and call it preparation.

Enough of it and you stop being able to think. That is not a figure of speech. The threat responses in the brainstem – anger, separation distress, fear – can fire hard enough that the thinking parts of the brain are no longer available to you. It is why you lost your third point, and why you were still running it back at two in the morning. By then it is physical: the held breath, the voice sitting higher and thinner than it does with your friends, the safe version of the sentence you meant.

You can’t stop that by deciding to. You can learn to read it coming, and practise the moments that set it off.

That is why this starts underneath. Your pattern tells you what you’re braced for. The voice work gives you the practice. Doing either on its own is what you have probably already tried.

Isabella had never given a public talk. Ahead of her was a 45-minute presentation and panel. She wanted it to be as good as it could be, so we worked on the material and the delivery together.

“It went really well. It was a little chaotic from their side, but I managed to stay composed through it, and didn’t find myself doing any of the things I would’ve done before, even at the start. I maybe missed a couple of points because I didn’t have my cue cards, but I just said them later.” — Isabella Trani, OMI

Meet Kieran

I was a loud, confident child with a gift for singing. When my voice changed as a teenager, the instrument that had come so naturally felt alien and uncontrollable. Despite having a demonstrably good voice, I lost my sense of self-belief, and with it, my sense of identity. It took a long time, and the Enneagram, to understand why.

That journey taught me something I couldn’t have learned any other way: that knowing who you are and being able to say it out loud are not the same thing. Both require practice. Both require courage. And both become possible when someone creates the conditions for it.

I’ve spent nearly 20 years working with these patterns. More about me →

How It Works

If you have a date in the diary, the work takes a contained shape. Not ongoing coaching, not open-ended exploration – one bounded piece of work, aimed at one occasion, for someone with a clear sense of how good they want it to be.

Four sessions, an action plan written for you, and support in between. We shape it together once we’ve spoken. From £1,100.

This isn’t permission to say whatever you like and let the room deal with it. It’s the opposite. Knowing what drives you is how you choose – instead of finding out afterwards what you did.

Most people come for one occasion. Some stop there, and that’s a whole piece of work. Others find it goes considerably further. It’s there if you want it.

“That was what I really enjoyed about this. Bringing it back to self-acceptance and self-love. It’s not just about the craft of delivery, but also about going inwards and being okay, whatever you deliver.” — Nirish Shakya
“If you’d told me, four months ago, that I’d be posting a video I’d made, on a website I was making, I’d have told you that you were a complete idiot and it was never going to happen.” — Fiona Greenhill
“I have always felt uncomfortable on video until I worked with Kieran. I’ve always shied away from putting video content out for my business because I see myself as being awkward and not compelling to watch – but I can’t wait to put these on my website and social media.” — Ellie Lloyd-Jones
“My typing interview with Kieran was genuinely revelatory. His explanations helped me understand the fundamental patterns underpinning my behaviour. It’s not just that I now know my type; it’s that I feel a greater degree of self-acceptance.” — Kate Etheridge

When There Isn’t a Date

Not everyone arrives with something in the diary. Some people want to keep working with the pattern itself – what it does at work, what it does at home, what it keeps costing them – without a deadline shaping it.

That work is hourly and taken as needed. £100 an hour, charged in fifteen-minute increments with a one-hour minimum, and it runs on if it needs to.

The difference between the two isn’t the method. The programme buys the exploration, a written action plan, support between sessions and a debrief, built around one occasion. This buys the time.

Let’s Talk

The simplest way to find out whether this is for you is a conversation. No payment, no commitment.

Already know you want to start? The typing exploration is free, and it’s the foundation of everything that follows.

Why This Works The Approach Teams

There’s Nothing Wrong With Your Voice

We don’t speak with our heads, although it’s easy to understand why that seems to be the case. The airflow that makes up our speech, the audible bit that others hear, starts in the body. When we sound like ourselves, our diaphragm supports the voice without us even knowing.

But we’re so often in our heads when we speak about the stuff that matters. As we get drawn by our heads, we lose contact with the body. Our voice falters, doubt creeps in. And we don’t sound like ourselves anymore.

Patterns, Made Conscious

We each meet the world from one of three centres: feeling, thinking, or instinct. Your voice falters differently depending on which is yours, and that is where we begin.

We work a layer beneath technique. What we address:

The work is underpinned by the Enneagram and the PDP framework (Patterns of Developmental Pathways), a neuroscience-based understanding of how people habitually respond to pressure and visibility. More about the model →

When we become aware, and choose to do the things we do rather than let them happen unconsciously, confidence naturally follows as a by-product. That’s what we’re working towards.

Teams

After a workshop a team knows its types. That is the beginning rather than the result. The useful work starts when people can name what happens between them – why the same meeting goes the same way, why one person’s thoroughness reads as obstruction to somebody else – and begin to do something other than repeat it.

Usually a workshop first, then follow-up with individuals, with teams, or both, depending on where the friction sits. Training days and courses are on the training page.
